Cognate with Old Dutch þakolōn (to stroke), Old Norse þykkr (a thwack, thump, blow), Icelandic þjökka, þjaka (to thwack, thump, beat), Norwegian tjåka (to strike, beat), Latin tangō (touch). More at thwack, tangent.
