1. (medicine) A pictorial representation of a patient's family tree together with details of the medical history and major family events of each person.

     The first thing the family therapist did when she met with the whole family was to draw a map of the whole family called a genogram. This included names and ages, occupations, places of residence, marriages, separations, divorces, illnesses, deaths and other significant events of three generations of the family.
