Puthoor is a village town located 26 kilometers (16 mi) from Kollam City in Kollam District, Kerala, India. it comprises three panchayats: Pavithreswaram, Kullakada and Neduvathoor.Puthoor town is the main shopping hub for a number of satellite rural areas in and around. This small town hosts some of the widely known Christian churches and the famous Cheriyil Devi Temple. Hindus being minority in comparison the trade and business in market areas are monopolised by Christian traders, which was not the sceen some decades back. Puthoor is also having a good number of cashew factories, processing cashew nut and exporting to foreign countries. Puthoor also has many brick factories mainly located in Cherupoika. Politically it is congress stronghold but there were occasions were communist groups won elections as well. This small town is congested with narrow roads and unorganised traffic system and street vendors in the evening trading hours.
