     Recte autem monet Strack, illam Piezatorum speciem, quarii Aristoteles nomine Ichneumonis designavit, nullo modo ad nostros Ichneumones referri posse, sed Sphegem esse, nam larva ejus haud in vivis erucis insectisve degit, sed ille Aristotelis Ichneumon araneas perimit easque fert in nidum suum, id quod haud Ichneumonum nostratium sed Sphegum moribus respondet.

     But Strack rightly points out that that species of piezator, which Aristotle designated by the name of Ichneumon, can in no way be referred to our Ichneumons, but is a Sphex, for its larva does not live on living caterpillars or insects, but that Ichneumon of Aristotle kills spiders and carries them to its nest, which corresponds not to the habits of our Ichneumons but to the Sphexes.
