「senior」は、年齢や経験、地位などで自分より上位にいる人を指す一般的な表現である。学校や職場などの公式な環境でよく使われる。ただし、「先輩」のような尊敬の意味合いは必ずしも含まれない。

1. He is my senior by two years.(彼は私より2年先輩である。)
2. I have a meeting with the senior management.(私は上級管理職と会議がある。)
3. She is in her senior year at university.(彼女は大学の最終学年である。)
「superior」は、地位や能力が自分より上の人を指す。特に職場での上司や上位者を指す際に使われる。しかし、「先輩」のような年齢や経験に基づく尊敬の意味合いは含まれない。

「elder」は、年齢が自分より上の人を指す。特に家族やコミュニティ内での年長者を指す際に使われる。しかし、「先輩」のような職場や学校での上下関係を表す意味合いは含まれない。
