This version tells of the villagers—with good round Polish names—who welcomed the Baby with such joy that he wouldn't go to sleep, of the ox and the ass who tried to calm Him and only frightened Him, and of the sooty little tiger cat who had to wash himself from his dusty chin to the tip of tail before he could sing the lullaby which brought sleep to the Christ-child.
