A stative verb in -eō, -ēre originally meaning to be full, based on a then lost factitive nasal-infixed present from Proto-Indo-European *pl̥--h₁-ti ~ *pl̥-n-h₁-énti (to fill), from the root *pleh₁- (to fill; full).
