- (informal) Used other than as an idiom: see the, next, guy.
- (informal) A normal or average person, or a hypothetical version thereof; often used in conjunction with stating that one agrees with someone in a matter while in the process of specifying a less common opinion on a different topic, related or not; may or may not actually be male
- I mean, I love that restaurant as much as the next guy, but I just can't stand their hideous ads!
