vulgus (plural vulguses)
May be from Proto-Italic *wolgos or *welgos, perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *welH- (“to throng, crowd”), whence also Welsh gwala (“sufficiency, enough”), Middle Breton gwalc'h (“abundance”), Sanskrit वर्ग (varga, “group, division”); see also Latin volvō (“to roll, turn over”) for the same or a similar root.
Some have attempted, without success, to link it to Proto-Indo-European *pl̥h₁-go-, whence English folk.
vulgus n sg or m sg (genitive vulgī); second declension

Vulgus (バルガス) is a vertically scrolling shooter developed and published by Capcom in Japan in 1984, and was later released in North America by SNK the same year. The word "Vulgus" comes fom Latin and means "common people", people of lower layers of society. The game has the distinction of being Capcom's debut video or arcade game. The game is also included in Capcom Classics Collection and is now available as freeware.
