• The word is uncommon, occurring only very rarely.
• It appears a little more in Middle English with the significance of "knowledge" which is shared by similar formulations in other Germanic languages.
• Ġewitscipe and witscipe are used interchangeably. This is evidenced by a later line on the same page as the first quote where it reads, "...nemne in gesomimng 7 in gewitscipe," in reference to the same three to four bishops in a similar context.
