「mall」は、主にアメリカ英語で使用され、大型のショッピングセンターや複合商業施設を指す。特に、屋内に複数の店舗が集まっている場所を指すことが多い。一方で、イギリス英語では「shopping centre」が一般的である。
「go to the mall(モールに行く)」、「shopping at the mall(モールで買い物をする)」、「mall rat(モールで時間を過ごす若者)」などがある。
