In Greek mythology, satyrs (UK: /ˈsætə/, US: /ˈseɪt̬ər/) are a troop of male companions of Pan and Dionysus — "satyresses" were a late invention of poets — that roamed the woods and mountains. In myths they are often associated with pipe-playing.
