Dr. Matt Fullerty (born 1976 in Warrington, England) is a British fiction writer and academic. Currently he is Professorial Lecturer in English (British Literature) at George Washington University in Washington, DC. In 2010 he was the Writing Fellow in fiction at I-Park's Artist's Enclave in East Haddam, Connecticut. In February 2011 he interviewed as a 'talking head' for Discovery Channel's Deadly Women television show to be aired in fall 2011 about Victorian killer Kate Webster. Following a national feature article profiling the killer for the UK's Daily Mail, 26th October 2010, about Kate Webster's murder of her landlady, Julia Thomas, and the discovery of a female skull related to the crime in the garden of Sir David Attenborough, Dr. Fullerty is writing a non-fiction 'true crime' version of his novel The Murderess and the Hangman entitled The Lady, the Maid and the Hangman. Meanwhile the investigation is being conducted by Richmond Police following the public information release of the skull's initial discovery. On 6th July 2011 the London coroner's inquest into the skull's identity confirmed it as Julia Thomas. The same day Dr. Fullerty was interviewed by [Radio London 94.9]'s Eddie Nestor about the discovery (the interview is recorded here). In August 2011, Dr. Fullerty will attend the Vermont Studio Center as a Writing Fellow on an Artist's Grant to complete his third novel, American Con Artist, a 'true crime' novel spanning the twentieth century.
