語源

From the oblique cases of 古期英語 Denemearc; compare Dene lawe and Denelond.

Especially in Northern 中期英語, the first element is sometimes remodelled on Dane (“Dane”), possibly due to the influence of Old Norse Danmǫrk (however, the East Saxon form Danmark reflects the local development of Denemearc). Contrastingly, the second element is rebuilt on marche in Southern 中期英語, perhaps on the model of Old French Danemarche, Denemarche.
