1. a cake-shaped construct made mostly or completely of inedible materials, used to practice or experiment with decorating techniques, or for display or photographic purposes. In advertising photography, dummy cakes can generally only be used if the cake is not the subject of the advertisement. Partial or complete dummy cakes are occasionally used for display at weddingss or other celebrations, if a real cake would be impractical (e.g., the design is such that a real cake would collapse under its own weight, または would require constant refrigeration until serving), with kitchen cakes used to provide most or all of the actual servings.
