A clipping of pajeet (“a derogatory and offensive slur for Indian people”), the second part of which is derived from Hindi जीत (jīt, “a victory, a win”). Sense 2 likely stems from the fact that Indian posters were perceived as promoting low circulation cryptocurrencies towards the members of 4chan's /biz/ board and immediately selling their stakes as soon as their price experienced a downturn.
