Marcus Hopson, better known by his stage name Hopsin, is an American rapper/music video director/hip hop producer from Panorama City, Los Angeles, California. He is known for his unique white contacts and his music videos which have gained popularity on YouTube. He was signed to Eazy E's record label Ruthless Records in 2007, and has since founded his own record label Funk Volume. Immediately after signing, he received multiple notable acclamations in hip hop magazines and Internet publications, and was described as the new face of West Coast hip hop in many instances. His style of rap is known for being aggressive and often described as disturbing or insane. Hopsin's style has often been compared to that of early Eminem records. Hopsin has said that Eminem, along with Michael Jackson, are his two biggest inspirations. While Hopsin's lyrics are often shocking, he has spoken out against mainstream rap's positive portrayal of alcohol and drugs. Hopsin often takes shots at mainstream rappers during his songs: In "Sag My Pants" he insults Lil Wayne, Drake, Rick Ross, Soulja Boy, and Lupe Fiasco. More recently he dissed Tyler, the Creator. He also frequently mentions the Illuminati.
