用例

• この金は俸給から差引いて戴きたい
  I wish to have this sum deducted from my salary

• 頂戴する分を差引くといくらさし上げればよいのですか
  Deducting what you owe me from what I owe you; what must I pay you?
• 破損を差引くといくつ残るだろうか
  If we allow for breakage,―make allowance for breakage,―how many will there be left?
• 破損を差引いて五十は無事に到着する
  Allowing for breakage, fifty will arrive in good condition.

  Allowing for accidents, we shall have 80 chickens.

用例

• 損益を差引く
  to balance the gain against the loss―balance the profit and loss

• 収支を差引くと多少利益があるか
  If we balance the receipts against the expenses,―balance the receipts and expenses,―is there any profit left?
• 損益を差引くと利益になる（損になる）
  The balance is in our favour―against us.
• 損益を差引くと千円の利益になる（千円の損になる）
  The balance is 1,000 yen to the good―1,000 yen to the bad.
• 彼の長所短所を差引くと長所の方が勝っている、長所の方が負けている
  If we balance his merits against his faults,―set off his merits against his faults,―the balance is in his favour―the balance is against him.
