John Olav Nilsen & Company is a Norwegian indie rock band from Loddefjord in Bergen . The band plays a mix of several styles such as pop , rock , soul and punk , which they call "gatepop." The lyrics to John Olav Nilsen is entirely in Norwegian. The band began to form in late 2006 while the current strain of the band came together in January 2007 in Bergen , with the exception of Alastair Guilfoyle and Tim H. Bjerke, who came in at a later date. The band played several concerts in Bergen and Western Norway in 2007 and 2008. The song "Diamonds & Cherry" was released on the compilation disc Opplett in 2008 .
