名詞
appresentation (uncountable)
- (philosophy) The intentional feature by which something indirectly given to consciousness is experienced as co-present or implied alongside what is directly perceived.
-
1931, Edmund Husserl, translated by Dorion Cairns, Cartesian Meditations, Martinus Nijhoff, published 1960, §50:
-
In the case of the other Ego... we have here an appresentation that, while never becoming a presentation, does make something co-present that is not itself originally given.
-
-
2003, Benjamin Stuck, “Symbolization and appresentational orders in lifeworldly meaning constitution”, in Semiotica, volume 260, page 45:
-
Appresentation means that "absent" data is intended as co-present with a directly perceivable term within the unity of consciousness (Husserl).

使用する際の注意点
In Husserl's phenomenology, appresentation is distinguished from presentation (direct givenness). It is most famously used to explain the experience of other minds: another person's body is directly presented, but their consciousness is appresented. The concept was later extended by Alfred Schütz to include signs, symbols, and indications.
