tap out (third-person singular simple present taps out, present participle tapping out, simple past and past participle tapped out)

1. (transitive) To produce (a message, rhythm, or other thing) by tapping.
2. (intransitive, combat sports) To submit to an opponent by tapping one's hand repeatedly either on the arena or the opponent's body.
3. (combat sports, transitive) To force (an opponent) to submit.

   He tapped his opponent out in what seemed like ten seconds.

4. (transitive) To relieve a person of duty, such as a casino worker or wrestler in a tag-team match.
5. (transitive) To deplete, especially of a liquid; to finish the last of a drink.

   After a month of sugaring, the local maples were all tapped out.

   It's nice that the ATM is open 24-7, but it doesn't help if your account is tapped out.

6. (intransitive) To run out of money in a gambling establishment.
