misgender (third-person singular simple present misgenders, present participle misgendering, simple past and past participle misgendered)
Misgender (referring to a person as the wrong gender) is mainly used with respect to transgender or nonbinary persons, although it can also apply to cisgender persons (as, for example, in newspaper correction notices: In an earlier posting of this article, Chris Smith was misgendered. Ms Christine Smith asked that her gender be clarified, which we have done in the current posting.).
