From Middle English sexe (“gender”), from Old French sexe (“genitals; gender”), from Latin sexus (“gender; gender traits; males または females; genitals”), from Proto-Italic *seksus, from Proto-Indo-European *séksus, from *sek- (“to cut, cut off, sever”), thus meaning "section, division" (into male かつ female).
Usage for women influenced by Middle French le sexe (“women”) (attested in 1580). Usage for third and additional sexes calqued from French troisième sexe, referring to masculine women in 1817 and homosexuals in 1847. First used by Lord Byron and others in English in reference to Catholic clergy. Usage for sexual intercourse first attested in 1900 (in the writings of H.G. Wells).
sex (countable かつ uncountable, 複数形 sexes)

In biology, sex is a process of combining and mixing genetic traits, often resulting in the specialization of organisms into a male or female variety (each known as a sex). Sexual reproduction involves combining specialized cells (gametes) to form offspring that inherit traits from both parents. Gametes can be identical in form and function (known as isogametes), but in many cases an asymmetry has evolved such that two sex-specific types of gametes (heterogametes) exist: male gametes are small, motile, and optimized to transport their genetic information over a distance, while female gametes are large, non-motile and contain the nutrients necessary for the early development of the young organism.

"S.E.X." is the first single by Lyfe Jennings from his second album The Phoenix. The song is about young teens losing their virginity from pressure. The song features the late upcoming R&B singer LaLa Brown, who was later murdered, along with her boyfriend and producer, JeTannue Clayborn, in a recording studio in October 2007. S.E.X debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 99 and slipped off just to re-enter the following week again at number 99. It eventually peaked at number 37, making it Lyfe's (and Lala's) most successful single. "S.E.X." was a top-five hit on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and received strong airplay on BET and some airplay on radio and MTV.
