PRIMROSE CHAPEL DEDICATION. Primrose Chapel was organized 54 years ago. Those who organized it and stood faithfully by it in its infancy have nearly all passed to their heavenly reward. The old frame building served well its day and generation, but it had grown insufficient in capacity to accommodate the crowds that attended there regularly. A new and a larger church was badly needed. The new church is a brick veneer with a seating capacity of about three hundred. It is considered to be one of the finest rural churches in this State. It is lighted with a Delco and in all it cost about $7,000. It has a membership of 137, a Sunday school of 80, an Epworth League [chapter] of 93, and a wide-awake Ladies' Aid.

1942, Augusta F. Rodstrom, quotee, Rodstrom v. Strum, 302 MICH 609 (1942). State of Michigan in the Supreme Court. Appeal to the Supreme Court From the Circuit Court for the County of Jackson in Chancery. Hon. John Simpson, Circuit Judge, pages 69-70:

We fixed the corncrib, remodeled the inside of the barn and put in a furnace. We put in a Delco and a new roof on the house. The roof we put on at our own expense, also the Delco and the furnace. During the time that we were out there we spent about $5,000 of our savings that we had accumulated in Chicago. We have used all our savings and our real estate bonds we lost in the crash of 1929. We farmed the property and bought horses, we had a plow and he [her late husband] plowed the land. He put in wheat, corn and oats.

1950 May 2, Lemuel J. Hanaman, quotee, Supreme Court of the State of New York. Appellate Division—Third Department. Lemuel Hanaman, plaintiff-respondent, against New York Telephone Company, defendant-appellant:
-
Q. Did you make some request of Mr. Knowles when you went in there? A. When I rapped at the front door she [Mrs. Knowles] came to the front door and I had my boots on and I said, 'I will take my boots off." She says, "No; leave them on, don't bother taking them off; leave them on," and so I left them on and went in and I asked her if I could use her phone. Q. What kind of a floor is in that living room? A. Hardwood. Q. And where was the phone situated, as near as you can recollect, when you went to use it? A. It was in the east corner of the living room. I think it was, I am pretty sure it was setting on top of a radio, an old console radio that wasn't in use. Q. Do you know of your own knowledge that that radio was not in use? A. I know it hadn't been because they had a Delco and they hadn't used it in years. [Hanaman is stating that the radio could not have been powered because the home's power source was a generator that hadn't been used in years. The telephones of the time worked via their own copper line, independently of any household power or absence thereof.]
