First-declension noun, singular only.

There are no inherited descendants; by early Medieval times the word had likely become historic (although a quite popular pronunciation in Italy is /iˈtaʎ.ʎa/, often transcribed as "Itaglia" humorously — as it denotes an incorrect and stereotyped pronunciation).
