使用する際の注意点

The misspelling Sijian'gou reflects an attempt to clarify the syllable division of 泗澗溝／泗涧沟 (Sìjiàngōu) as si + jian + gou, rather than si + jiang + ou. According to the rules of Hanyu Pinyin, however, the syllable-dividing mark (隔音符號／隔音符号 (géyīn fúhào)) can only be used before a non-initial syllable beginning with a, o, or e, so Sijiangou is already unambiguous; a word with jiang + ou would be written Sijiang'ou. In practice, syllable-dividing marks are often inserted or omitted inconsistently.
