From Flanders +‎ -ization (suffix forming nouns denoting the act, process, or result of doing or making something), from the American animated television series The Simpsons (first broadcast in 1989) where the character Ned Flanders underwent a progressive shift from a good-natured Christian to a religious fundamentalist. The character did however eventually return to his initial form. The word was coined on the popular culture wiki TV Tropes around 2006.
