他動詞、自動詞

• 原義は「別の状態に形作る」。「形、性質、機能などをすっかり変える」という意味。科学技術論文では、1.物質の相変態の場面において、(1)他動詞用法のtransform A into (to) Bで、「物質(A)を物質(B)に変態する、(2)自動詞用法のA transforms into (to) Bで、「物質(A)が物質(B)に変態する」というように使う。 2.他動詞用法のtransform A into (to) Bで、「数学の式などを変換する」という意味で使う。式の内容を変えず、形だけを変換するときにも使う。

• 1-1) Prepared specimens were only partially transformed from the non-periodic CuAu� structure to the periodic CuAu� after a suitable heat treatment of the alloy.
