Paulo Sergio Rosa, usually known as Viola (born January 1, 1969), is a Brazilian footballer that plays as a forward. Viola is famous for his strong personality on the pitch and great appearances in many teams he has defended throughout his long career. Back in 1988, during the final game of Campeonato Paulista (1st Division Championship of São Paulo State) between Corinthians and Guarani, Viola was called in by his coach to play on the last 5 minutes of the match when the game was tied in 1 - 1. 'Viola stepped into the pitch and surprisingly, not long after, he would score the goal that gave Corinthians the title of Winner of the competition. After that, Viola’s career had a great jump and many Brazilian teams wanted to sign him up. Later in 1993, Viola popularity increased so much that, he received an invitation to play for the famous Brazilian Squad right next to Romario, Zinho, Bebeto, Ronaldo, Cafu and many other brilliant players of that time to play the Copa America. Not long after, Viola and the same team would play the 1994 FIFA World Cup up held in the US. Brazil had an amazing win and brought great honor to several Brazilian fans all over the globe. In 1995, thanks to the great time Viola was passing through, he would win another 2 big titles in Brazil, the Campeonato Paulista and the Copa of Brasil (a big national competition in the country). After that, he left Brazil for an invitation to play for Valencia in Spain. He spent quite a season in Spain due to his adaptation. Soon, he came back to Brazil to play for other big teams such as Palmeiras, Santos( Pelé’s former club) and Vasco da Gama. In 1998 playing for Santos, Viola was considered as the best striker of the biggest competition in Brazil, the Campeonato Brasileiro (Brazil National Championship) scoring an amazing mark of 20 goals in 28 games. On the same year, he would also conquest the winner title of the Copa Comenbol (South American Cup). In 1999, playing for Vasco da Gama, Viola won the Torneio Rio-São Paulo (Tournament between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo States). And in 2000, he also won the Copa Mercosur (competition among the countries of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile) and one more time, the Campeonato Brasileiro. In 2001, Viola left Brazil again for another foreign team located in Turkey, Gaziantepspor where he spent three seasons. In 2004, back to Brazil Viola would defend many other teams including Guarani, Bahia, Juventus, Uberlandia, Duque de Caxias, Angra dos Reis and Resende Futebol Clube. In early 2010 Viola was hired by Brusque.
