     The students' Northern Expedition, organized in Foochow, consists of five leaders, 350 male and 20 female students. The party left Mawei for Shanghai by a China Merchants S.N. Company's liner at 10 a.m. on the 18th instant.

All cargo and passengers are transported to the shore by lighters, house boats, or steam launches. The inconvenience has led the Min River Conservancy Board (閩江局) to purchase dredgers for the widening of the river bed between Mawei and Foochow.
