From philo- + polemic, modelled after Ancient Greek φιλοπόλεμος (philopólemos, “fond of war, warlike”),[1] from φίλος (phílos, “beloved, dear; loving”) (possibly from Proto-Indo-European *bʰil- (“decent, good; friendly, harmonious”)) + πόλεμος (pólemos, “war; battle”).
