From Middle English body, from 古期英語 bodiġ, bodeġ (“body, trunk, chest, torso”), from Proto-Germanic *budagan, *budagaz (“body; grown”). Cognate with Old High German botah (“body, trunk”), Middle High German botech (“body, corpse”), Swabian Bottich (“body, trunk”).
