Instead, the stock was listed in the “pink sheets.” Individual investors rarely have access to the pink sheets and the information in the pink sheets is not very helpful. The pink sheets contain the names of broker-dealer firms making a market in the stock. Most firms are listed in name only and do not provide bid and ask quotations. Those broker-dealer firms entering quotations are not obligated to execute trades at those prices. In addition, the pink sheets do not reveal when the last trade of the stock occurred, what the stock's trading volume was, or whether the price of any stock sold approximated any quote listed in the pink sheets.
