Cognate with West Frisian sappig (“juicy”), Dutch sappig (“juicy, succulent”), Middle High German saffic, seffec ("juicy, succulent"; > German saftig), Danish saftig (“juicy”), Swedish saftig (“juicy”). Doublet of zaftig.

"Sappy" is a song by the American rock band Nirvana. The song appears on the rarities box set With the Lights Out and the compilation album Sliver: The Best of the Box. It is also found as an uncredited track on the 1993 AIDS-benefit compilation album No Alternative, at the time referred to as "Verse Chorus Verse".
