From 中期英語 jure, from Anglo-Norman juree, from Medieval Latin iūrāta, from Latin iūrō (“to swear or take an oath”).
jury (third-person singular simple present juries, present participle jurying, simple past and past participle juried)
Early 1600s, of uncertain origin. Perhaps ultimately from Old French ajurie, from Latin adiūtō.
Alternatively, perhaps ultimately from Frankish *garu (“ready, prepared”), related to 中期英語 yore, ȝare, from 古期英語 ġeoro, ġearu (“ready, prompt, prepared, quick”), related to gear.
