支援に向けた取組は図書館により様々だが、代表的な機能としては、〔1〕図書館としての公共性を活かして大量に蓄積した幅広い分野のビジネスに役立つ文献・雑誌等紙媒体の情報を、ビジネスをキーワードに集め一覧できるようにして提供したり、インターネットやデータベースといった電子媒体を無料で提供していることや、〔2〕必要な情報へどのようにアクセスすればよいか分からなくとも、情報収集のノウハウを持つ司書によるレファレンスサービスを受けることができること、〔3〕平日のみならず土日も開館しているため、フルタイムの仕事を持つ者にも利用しやすく、無料であることと併せて、誰にとっても敷居が低く利用しやすい公共施設であること、〔4〕図書館によっては行政や商工会議所、大学等専門的なノウハウと機能を持つ機関と連携を図っており、情報へのワンストップ的なアクセス窓口となっていること、〔5〕開業セミナー等の開催による情報発信を挙げることができる。 - 経済産業省
