Borrowed from Hindustani پردہ / पर्दा (pardā),[1][2] and its etymon Classical Persian پرده (pardah, “curtain; screen; (古風な用法) veil”),[3] ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *pleh₂- (“flat”).
