The perspectives of megabanks seems to have somewhat changed, as I have been told by a staff member at one of the local financial bureaus that a megabank started participating in conventions of shinkin banks and credit unions since the establishment of the Act for the first time ever. It may be common knowledge, but 99.7% of companies in Japan are SMEs, and 42 million people work for SMEs. SMEs are rather agile, flexible and extremely precious.
