study は典型的には教室という場面で説明を聞いたりテキストを読んだりして何かを学ぶという意味合いがあるが,ある対象に注意深く関わり調べるというのが本義である.一方,learnは主に経験を通して知識や技能を獲得するという意である.study は学習のやり方に焦点を置くのに対して,learn は修得の結果に焦点を置く傾向がある.そこで,You don't have to study English; you just use it and learn it naturally. (英語をきちんと勉強する必要なないよ,使えば自然に学べるさ)ということが可能になる.
